At Wynndel Community Centre, we are dedicated to serving the community and providing a gathering place for friends, family and neighbours. Though our main facility is unable to be occupied, we still have a cute little arts centre in the back, great for meetings or small gatherings. With a proud heritage dating back to 1930, Wynndel Community Centre is a historic landmark located in the heart of the Kootenays, less than 10 minutes from Creston.

Our park is a haven for families and people of all ages to enjoy a relaxing day out in nature. With an amazing playground to keep the little ones entertained and a beautiful green space to relax and unwind, a meandering path down by the creek, we have everything you need for a perfect day outside. The disc golf course is also a new must-try activity, perfect for groups of all ages and skill levels. Come and explore the park today and experience all that we have to offer.

July 2025 Newsletter – Wynndel Community Centre

Hello Friends and Neighbours,

As you may have heard, the Wynndel Community Centre has been closed due to structural failure after 74 years of service. This space has long been a vital part of our community—hosting social events, acting as a muster point during emergencies, and providing a gathering space for generations.

We are a 100% volunteer-run non-profit society. Our goal has always been to maintain and manage this hall for public use—and we’re asking for your help as we look to the future.

🚧 What’s Going On?

The original Quonset-style roof has failed and must be completely removed and replaced. Other key systems—like the furnaces—are also at the end of their life.

We’ve been exploring our options and renovating the old school building is emerging as a practical and cost-effective solution.

🙋‍♀️ How You Can Help

1. Volunteer

We’re actively looking for volunteers to join our board and help guide this next chapter. We are in dire need of a treasurer, and more directors are always welcome.

We’re also forming a Restoration Committee to guide the rebuilding process. If you have experience in planning, construction, budgeting, or grant writing, we would love to hear from you.

2. Join Our Fundraising Team

We’ve set a $17,000 fundraising goal for 2025, and we need your ideas and help!

We’re tentatively planning a two-day “Wynndel Days” event for September 19–20 and would love your support.

💛 Why It Matters

The Wynndel Community Centre has been part of this valley since 1930, serving as:

• A hub for social events and community clubs

• A voting station and communication point

• A safe space during floods, fires, and emergencies

No other venue in the area has served quite the same role.

💵 Don’t Have Time to Volunteer?

No problem! You can still help by donating just $5 or $10. Every dollar makes a difference—and we receive 100% of donations made through Zeffy.

👉 Donate by clicking the "Donate Here!" button at the top of the page

📝 Note: Zeffy may ask for a contribution to support their platform—but it’s optional.

Thank you for supporting the Wynndel Community Centre. Together, we can build something strong for the future.
