Hall Closure Information
In February, the hall hoped to add retractable basketball nets to our upstairs gym. In that process, a structural engineer was asked to come and look at where the best place was to secure them. That action resulted in the building having a Do Not Occupy order put on it due to the structural failure of the roof trusses. On March 3 we had Bolen Engineering out to do a full structural assessment. Their findings are posted below in the PDF.
The short of it is this:
The Wynndel Community Centre cannot be occupied for the foreseeable future. There is significant failure to 2/3rds of the roof system.
Our Next Steps
Over the next while, we desire to start a committee and make a plan to develop our next course of action. If you're interested in joining that committee, please attend our next meeting on Tuesday, April 15th. We need more volunteers and community support and participation if we want the hall to survive.
Below is the recording from our March 11 meeting. Please note, the meeting begins at the 2:33 minute mark.
