Hall Closure Information
In February 2025, the hall hoped to add retractable basketball nets to our upstairs gym. In that process, a structural engineer was asked to come and look at where the best place was to secure them. That action resulted in the building having a Do Not Occupy order put on it due to the structural failure of the roof trusses. On March 3 we had Bolen Engineering out to do a full structural assessment. Their findings are posted below in the PDF.
The short of it is this:
The Wynndel Community Centre cannot be occupied for the foreseeable future. There is significant failure to 2/3rds of the roof system.

We had a wonderful day at the Fall Fair connecting with people from across the Creston Valley and hearing your ideas for the future of the Wynndel Community Centre.
Throughout the day, visitors stopped by our booth to learn more about the redevelopment project, share ideas, complete our community survey, and cast their three dots for the spaces and amenities they would most like to see considered.
Altogether, 574 dots were placed on the board!
The ideas receiving the most support included indoor gym/recreation space, a bike skills/trail or pump track area, playground expansion and outdoor washrooms, a stage/performance area, a soccer/playing field, community event space, and an outdoor sports court. We also heard plenty of additional ideas and helpful comments through conversations at the booth.
A big thank you to everyone who stopped to talk with us, asked questions, shared an idea, filled out the survey, or added their dots to the board. Your participation gives us valuable information about what matters to the people who live, work, and raise families in our community.
This feedback will be shared with the Wynndel Community Centre Board and Studio9 Architecture + Planning as work continues on the first phase of redevelopment planning. The Fall Fair results are one part of the broader community engagement process, and there will be more opportunities to have your say as the project moves forward.
We are also incredibly grateful to the volunteers who helped set up, staff the booth, talk with community members, and make the day possible.
